╗NOT_RUIN_CATCH½
What's the catch?
1.44 MB 650 MB
To use the space on your recordable CD most efficiently, copy ¼groups of files ¼to the CD, not individual files.
Each time you write information to your CD (each session), extra space is required for directory and space allocation information
(up to 24 MB of space, depending on the program).
10 - 1MB files copied one-at-a-time = approximately 150 MB on CD
10 - 1MB files copied as a group = approximately 34 MB on CD
╗NOT_RUIN_SEPARATE_CD½
Use a separate CD with each CD-Writer program
Each CD-writer program uses a slightly different format scheme to optimize its features.
Use a separate CD with each of the three programs that write to CD:
For example, don't use the same CD with the Easy-CD Audio program and the Alchemy Build program.
╗NOT_RUIN_MULTIPLE_WRITES½
Can I write to the same CD more than once?
You can write to your CD multiple times, until it is full.
But, like film in a camera, you cannot erase your recordable CD.
¼Note: ¼with Easy-CD Audio, only one GROUP of songs per CD is possible (one session).
╗NOT_RUIN_OTHER_PROGRAMS½
Don't run other programs while writing to the recordable disc
Writing to CD is a resource intensive task. Interrupting the writing process in any way may corrupt your recordable disc.
¼Don't use any other programs during the write process. ¼
Recommendations to prevent recordable disc corruption:
ò Log off of the network
ò Sign off from EMAIL
ò Turn off your screen savers
ò Turn off any programs that may interrupt, such as your calendar
reminding you of a meeting or your scheduled backup beginning.
╗NOT_RUIN_LABEL½
Label your HP CD without damaging it
The vulnerable area on your CD is the top surface
(where the label is).
¼Do ¼
ò Use permanent markers to write on your HP CDs.
¼Don'ts ¼
ò Ball-point pens scratch the gold recording surface.
ò Tape or sticker adhesive may cause damage.
Removing tape or stickers can tear off the gold recording surface.

Create Music CD's
Make a CD of your favorite music by copying tracks from your music CDs to your recordable CD. For your own use only, of course.
Make your own music using MIDI instruments and their software. Then copy them to and distribute them on CD (*.WAV files only):
ò music demos of your work
ò the kid's piano recital
ò the kids singing for Grandma
You can listen to these creations on any CD player or using Easy-CD Audio and your CD-Writer 4020i.

ò distribute your business's brochures on CD
ò submit a multi-media resume
ò publish your art portfolio on CD
ò send your family's Christmas card in multi-media
ò share your child's best work in first grade
Easy to mail!

╗WHAT_DO_ARCHIVE½

Copy files to a CD where they cannot be deleted. Then delete them from your hard drive:
ò Use your recordable CD like a big diskette.
ò Save tax records or your family's medical records.
ò Create a photo album of previously scanned images.
ò Create your own CD library.

╗WHAT_DO_SEARCH½
Provide a file-preview feature and full word-search on each CD
Save all of your text and graphic files to CD and provide a way to ¼search on every word ¼and ¼display every file.¼ Years from now be able to search, view, and copy from these files . . . even if you no longer have the software with which they were created. (Many file formats supported.)
Useful for:
ò parts lists and catalogs
(search for any item and display illustrations)
ò your family's favorite recipes
(search on ingredients)
Easy to mail to your clients and friends.
